Students Leading the Nation in Sydney

Governor Stirling Senior High School Follow the Dream/Partnerships for Success students Tyana Hardwick and Teagan Climo spent an amazing week in Sydney recently attending the ‘Many Voices, One Future National Gathering’. The students were hand picked from hundreds because of the strong leadership and interpersonal skills they demonstrated while attending the WOW program in Term 2 of this year. The pair, along with other youth leaders, participated in developing nationally focused campaigns on issues they feel passionately about, the campaign topics included:

  • Suicide Prevention
  • Refugee and Asylum Seekers
  • Constitutional Recognition
  • Climate Change
  • Closing the Gap

The campaigns were released nationally via You-tube and voted upon to determine which had the most impact. Teagan was invited back to Sydney to further develop her campaign about ‘Closing the Gap’. Teagan has passed through three stages to get this far and is now one of 20 Indigenous students who are representing the Indigenous youth of Australia from hundreds of applicants.
