The Paraburdoo Learning Club was launched in early 2018 and was officially opened in June that year during the school's NAIDOC Festival. This opening ceremony was attended by Premier Mark McGowan, Chris Sailsbury (CEO Rio Tinto Iron Ore), Dr Ali Khan (CEO Yinhawangka) and Cate Sims (CEO Graham (Polly) Farmer Foundation), along with many other dignitaries, friends, families and community guests, staff and students.
The Learning Club supports families and children during their primary school years, enhancing school attendance and enabling students to gain a solid foundation of knowledge and skills to maximise educational opportunities. In addition to improving attendance, literacy and numeracy, the program also enhances self-management, social skills and resilience. Celebrations of culture and heritage are also a core feature of the learning program, with opportunities to share diverse stories, journeys and languages.
The weekly after-school sessions are organised by the Program Coordinator and the school's AIEO (Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer), with support from teachers, families and the local community.
