The Program Coordinators, with the support of dedicated teams of tutors, provide after-school educational support to over 70 students, with a particular focus on literacy and numeracy.

Thanks to the encouragement and academic enrichment provided by the Program, students are more engaged in school life, have an improved school attendance rate, and achieve better academic results.

The program expanded in 2018 thanks to the support of local Indigenous Corporations GEBIE, GEAT and ALC, and now employs six in-school tutors who conduct numeracy and literacy sessions in the classroom with students either one-on-one or in small groups.

As a result, each child on the program now has the opportunity to receive over 20 hours of individualised tutoring every week.

Thanks to the partnership with the ALC and South32, the Program Coordinator can take groups of students and parents to Cairns once a year to look at boarding school opportunities, as well as to explore the many incredible experiences the region has to offer, including the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest.
