Northam Follow The Dream

Follow the Dream was established at Northam Senior High School in 2003 and takes place four afternoons per week in the dedicated Follow The Dream Centre, which is a heritage listed building formerly used as the caretaker’s residence.

The Centre has a kitchen and three separate learning areas where tutors provide academic support and career advice to students.

The learning areas have desktop and laptop computers along with a range of other learning materials.

Approximately 20 to 25 students enroll each year and are proud to wear a school uniform shirt emblazoned with the Centre’s own logo, which was designed by a student and approved by local elders.

The program provides a range of specialist tutoring to help improve literacy and numeracy levels, with particular attention to NAPLAN and OLNA preparation.

Students thrive on the relationships they form with their tutors as well as with other students across all years. Everyone feels like they are part of a ‘Follow The Dream Family’, working hard and supporting each other.

Alumni from the program have been successful in transitioning into a wide range of positive post school pathways, including University or TAFE, apprenticeships or direct employment in the workforce.

The Centre is a happy, welcoming place, with plenty of food available and a relaxed atmosphere where students can work with their tutors in a variety of different ways.
