Approximately 50 to 55 exceptional young indigenous students take part in the Follow The Dream educational enrichment program at Governor Stirling Senior High School.

The program supports and encourages the students so they can succeed academically and become young leaders in their community.

With a focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and literacy skills, the Follow The Dream program not only helps develop the students’ school-based learning, but challenges the students to extend their learning above and beyond what is required.

The program has strong ties to industry and aims to expose students to as many opportunities as possible in order to help them better understand the world of work and the diverse opportunities they could pursue.

The Follow The Dream Program Coordinator and team of specialist tutors work in partnership with the school leadership team and teaching staff to ensure that each student is focused on skills that are relevant to their in-class curriculum.

The program is held after-school four times a week in the Maali Centre, meaning Black Swan in Noongar.

Many of the students consider it a ‘second home’ with their ‘Follow The Dream Family’.

The program is proudly partnered by the WA Department of Education.
