Katanning Follow The Dream

The Katanning Follow the Dream Program has been running at Katanning Senior High School for over 10 years and as of 2018 has been located in a new venue that the students have named “Ngalla Maya”, meaning Our Place in Noongar.

The program runs tutoring sessions three afternoons per week after school and a home work/catch-up session on Friday afternoons.

The program provides students with the opportunity to access specialist tutoring in all areas of their schooling, with a strong focus on enhancing literacy and numeracy skills.

In addition to after-school support, students also have the opportunity to join a number of academic and cultural excursions throughout the year, including career camps to Perth, workplace visits, tours of university and TAFE campuses (metro and regional), and culture camps. Students are supported and mentored through their exploration of different career pathways, with regular inspirational guests speakers.

The program is offered to a number of outreach schools, including Narrogin Senior High School and Gnowangerup District High School, together catering for more than 40 students.

The students at the host school and outreach schools gather together for the camps and excursions held throughout the year.

Katanning Follow The Dream is proud to have supported students into meaningful post-school pathways, with many students embarking on careers in banking, mining, education and the trades.
