Soleil White – WA Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year 2018
Soleil White is a Yarawu & Bunuba woman living in Broome at the moment who was recently announced as the WA Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year 2018.
She recently completed a Certificate IV in Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care with Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services (KAMS), along with a Course in Applied Vocational Study Skills.
Now a qualified Aboriginal Health Worker, & with the help of Soleil is playing a part in closing the gap within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander healthcare industry, and is encouraging other Aboriginal youth to follow the same path.
CAAMA’s Philippe Perez spoke to her about the award which is sponsored by the Graham Polly Farmer Foundation.
The Foundation also supported Soleil when she was at secondary school through its after-school educational enrichment program, Follow The Dream. The Broome program is co-managed by the Polly Farmer Foundation and the WA Department of Education, and supported by Woodside.
