Geelong Program Coordinator

The Polly Farmer Foundation is excited to be expanding its operation to Geelong, Victoria and we have a new opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Program Coordinator to join the team and be a part of this next step for the Foundation. Reporting to the Program Manager, the successful applicant will play a key role in leading and managing the delivery of the Follow the Dream program based at Northern Bay College in Geelong.

Role

The role of the Program Coordinator involves identifying students for participation and managing the selection process of the Follow the Dream students, case managing and mentoring each student including monitoring and supporting their school progress and working closely with classroom teachers, staff and providing subject advice and career guidance information, arranging extracurricular enrichment activities including camps and excursions, the recruitment and management of program tutors, establishing relationships and working in collaboration with students, parents, teachers and school staff and other key stakeholders. The successful applicant will be required to show an understanding of the program intent, and requirements, and an appreciation of issues relating to Aboriginal education, students, and cultural perspectives.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Follow the Dream program, mentoring students and supervising casual tutoring staff.
  • Work in partnership with teachers, support staff, and school leaders to create implement, and deliver targeted academic support for students within the program.
  • Build and sustain community relationships.
  • Document and collect data relating to program reporting.
  • Work closely with students’ families and members of the Geelong Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community.
  • Recruitment and engagement of tutors for the program in partnership with the Program Manager and HR Team.
  • General administration tasks relating to the Geelong Follow the Dream program.

What You Will Bring

  • Formal teaching degree or equivalent qualifications.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of teaching and learning practices, particularly relating to Aboriginal students and their communities.
  • Extensive engaging and working with Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people and communities.
  • Highly developed written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to conduct research, prepare reports, and establish effective working relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve planned outcomes.
  • Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.
  • Hold or are willing to obtain a current Victorian working with children’s check.
  • Hold a current Victorian Driver’s licence.
