Krista Dunstan: Noongar lawyer a rising star in WA legal circles and role model for young Aboriginals

When the going got tough for Krista Dunstan, it would have been understandable if she had walked away from a promising, but gruelling, future in law.

But in a testament to her determination, Krista, 28, persisted and is now a role model for young Aboriginal people and a star in WA legal circles and the public service.

Krista was raised by her single mother in Esperance and knew from age 11 she wanted to pursue law.

“I was passionate about justice for people and being able to help people through really tough situations,” she said.

“We’ve had our own dramas as a single-parent family, custody battles and that kind of thing, so I suppose the court room is familiar in that way.”

She credits The Graham (Polly) Farmer Foundation’s Follow The Dream program for helping her to excel in high school and get into law at the University of WA.
